The Mercedes-Benz R230 SL (2003 – 2011) was the first SL Class Mercedes to be equipped with a retractable hard top… no more fussing around with detachable hard tops starting in 2003. The model had seen minor body tweaks through 2008, but it was in 2009 when it got a proper facelift. A more aggressive front fascia, grille and a contoured hood among lighting upgrades and a few other changes.
They made just 550 2009 SL550 Silver Arrow Edition cars. The ‘Silver Arrow Edition’ Package was $13,725 worth of unique extras from special paint to designo black lacquer interior trim, red leather and a Panorama top. See an article I wrote for my ‘Dave Knows Cars Blog” a couple of years ago detailing the ‘Silver Arrow Edition’ here.
