I'm here to give you my review
of 'the SL Experience', John Olson's new book. As the webmaster for the SL
Market letter website I am one of the few people that has seen this book being
"built" (364 pages, hard cover and in color), besides the contributing authors
and a half dozen proofreaders. Its' subtitle is "The Ultimate Mercedes-Benz
SL Resource Book," and this is a pretty fair description. It is a book you are apt to refer back to for years. The book is broken down into several well-organized chapters, with countless color pictures. Believe me when I say
that no SL stone is left unturned. Several SL luminaries have contributed to
the book including Paul Russell, Bruce Adams, Frank Mallory, Randy Durrance,
Alex Dearborn....and let's not forget John Olson, who, as far as I'm
concerned, is the world's foremost authority about not only SL's, but
collectible M-B's of all types. I would be remiss if I did not mention Greg
Greeson's Design Appraisals, four fold-out illustrated pages in full color, or
René Staud's amazing photography. Additionally, Jacques Voucher covers
Mercedes as an art form and Holly Bromberg explains why regular car insurance
isn't suitable for many of our cars. The whole book has been printed on
state-of-the-art Heidelberg SORDZ/Speedmaster four color presses. As a
repeat reviewer of John Olson's various work(s), I must say this is his
absolute best book to date and I heartily recommend it. Those of you who have seen my past reviews know that I give an honest appraisal of what I read.
